The Women’s World Cup is winding down, and though American fans may watched their team bow out earlier than usual, the tournament has not been short of compelling and interesting story lines.  One such story line centers around six players from Racing Louisville in the NWSL.  Not only did the club send six players to the World Cup, those players represented six different nations.  When you consider the historic nature of Nigeria and South Africa advancing out of the group stage, you can argue those six players have been as impactful as players from any club across the globe. In this episode, Jeff Greer, the Director of Communications for Racing Louisville, discusses the club’s impact on women’s soccer's biggest event and looks forward to what lies ahead for the remainder of the NWSL season.Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! The Reggae Girlz from Jamaica have surprised the world by advancing to the Round of 16 at the 2023 Women's World Cup.  They shocked France with a draw to open the group stage and did the same to Brazil in the final group game to move on, all after needing help from a Go-Fund-Me page to even travel to the tournament.  The foundation for this success was laid in the buildup to being the first Caribbean nation to qualify for a Women's World Cup in 2019.  That process was led by Hue Menzies.  Hue is a veteran coach accustomed to developing players and programs at all levels of the game.  He is extremely proud not just of the results on the field, but the fact the Jamaican program's success is helping empower young women and impact the culture of his home nation.  Hopefully his insight gives you some context the next time you watch the Reggae Girlz play.Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Big V joins me from his dispensary and studio for a fun conversation, on a day when he was celebrating the arrival of two new grandkids.  Now operating as a solo artist, he started as a front man of the multi-platinum group Nappy Roots.  We talk a little bit of music, though not as much as I originally planned.   His love for and pride in his family and hometown of Bowling Green, KY are evident.  He also offers a bit of introspection in discussing his appreciation for the opportunities he's had.  There are a couple of interruptions from visitors as Big V enjoys his day, but it just adds to the story. I hope you enjoy listening. https://www.bigvofnappyroots.com/Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Brian Jones (Yoga Instructor)

A few years ago, Brian Jones decided to walk away from his job in fund-raising and commit himself full time to his newer found passion of yoga.  He took a leap of faith to follow what he thought would make him happiest.  Today he practices and teaches yoga in Nashville, Tennessee.  Brian has an interesting story to share, and one that I think all of us can appreciate.  He knew what his passion had become, and he wasn't afraid to go where it might take him.Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Ernie Small is a musician involved in multiple projects.  Where I grew up, the Ernie Small Blues Band  has been a staple for decades, entertaining thousands in a variety of settings.  Whether talking about the core of the band or the talented individuals that have been in and out over the years, the group is not short on musicianship.  They put on a fun show that provides memories for people of all ages.  Ernie is also a member of Mt Victor Revue, a band with more of a bluegrass feel, that has gained its own popularity in more recent years.  This was a fun one to put together, but hard not to get distracted and drift off into the good music.   If you have a chance, checkout the YouTube version of this episode for extended musical clips.  Thanks to BJ Jordan and Sublime Media Group for their cooperation in letting me put that together.  You can also check out full performances from Ernie Small Blues Band and Mt Victor Revue at the following links.Ernie Small Blues Bandhttps://youtu.be/L8aSsdWZndg https://youtu.be/bd86lb7egMsMt Victor Reviewhttps://youtu.be/kJwa5C_P4pISupport the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! In this episode I visit with Michael Flynn, goalkeeper coach for the NCAA men’s soccer national champion Syracuse Orange.  Though I’m a few years older, Michael and I are both Bowling Green, Kentucky natives and graduates of Bowling Green High School.  It’s been fun to watch him grow as a person and coach, and was extremely exciting seeing a hometown boy on national television last fall capturing a title.   He shares about his personal journey, the Syracuse culture, and their title run. Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Mary Podesta was one of the first female football officials in the country.  As a former college athlete and athletic administrator, she was no stranger to being in the competitive arena.  Her work ethic and willingness to step into a sometimes uncomfortable male dominated profession got her a chance.  The quality of her work kept her around.  She now works for the San Francisco 49ers, officiating mini-camps and practices at the team's training facility.  https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/338456017 Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Alli Truttmann is the founder of Wicked Sheets, a company that started manufacturing moisture wicking and cooling bed sheets and has continued to thrive.  Alli was a college athlete that found that many of the materials that kept her cool during her playing days could be used in bedding as well.  She literally started the company out of her apartment, and 15 years later is still expanding to new products.  Her entrepreneurial spirit is in full force and I hope you enjoy a snapshot of her story.www.wickedsheets.comSupport the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast!
