Tinman Podcast
I’m a former college soccer coach and avid music fan. Many episodes will have a hand in one or both of those topics, but we’ll also delve into entrepreneurship, leadership, and other subjects. Basically, this podcast is my way to reconnect with old friends, get new perspectives, and help others share their own stories, passions, and expertise.

Ryan Beard is the Head Football Coach at Missouri State University. He is entering his second year as one of the youngest head coaches in Division One, and preparing his program to make the jump next year to the FBS level and Conference USA. Beard was a talented athlete, quick to point out the influence of his family and how he was shaped by the environment in which he was raised. The Missouri State Bears are getting ready for the dog days of summer and what is sure will be a challenging preseason camp full of hard work. Coach Beard was able to carve out a few minutes for me before he dives in head-first. Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Randy Waldrum is the Head Coach of the Nigerian women's soccer team, which is headed back to the Olympics for the first time in 16 years. This comes on the heels of their first ever trip to the knock round in last year’s Women’s World Cup, where they took eventual runners-up England to penalty kicks. He was nice enough to share a few minutes as he prepares to head to France. Waldrum is one of the most successful coaches in NCAA history. After coaching both the men’s and women’s teams at Tulsa and starting the women’s program at Baylor, he moved to South Bend to lead Notre Dame’s women for 15 years, winning national championships in 2004 and 2010. Following a stint in the NWSL with Houston Dash, he is currently the head coach at the University of Pittsburgh. His resume also includes previous international coaching experience with Trinidad and Tobago and U.S. youth national teams. Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Jeff Matthews was introduced to the music of Bruce Springsteen growing up in England. His fandom built, and he eventually dove in head first. He currently hosts the E Street Cafe Podcast, joined by two friends brought together by the music, and knowledgable sources in their own right. You don’t have to be a huge fan of The Boss to appreciate this episode. As much as anything else, it’s another example of someone pouring into their passion, and illustrates how the medium of music, and the shared experience of live music and can build connections.Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast! Jaelin Howell, midfielder with Racing Louisville in the NWSL, is known as a hard-nosed player and fierce competitor. She was a two-time national champion at Florida State and was awarded the Hermann Trophy, college soccer’s equivalent of the Heisman, in 2020 and 2021. She has also earned multiple caps with the US Women’s National Team. Being chosen by Louisville as the second overall pick in the 2022 NWSL draft turned out to be quite serendipitous, because as much as she plays all in all the time on the field, her commitment to giving back off the field is just as strong. Her work with Down Syndrome of Louisville helped her earn the 2023 Nationwide Community Impact Award. I’ve been a fan for quite a while, and this conversation with Jaelin Howell just solidified what I thought I already knew.Support the showWe appreciate you listening to the Tinman Podcast!
