Hue Menzies (Former Jamaican Women’s National Team Head Coach)
The Reggae Girlz from Jamaica have surprised the world by advancing to the Round of 16 at the 2023 Women's World Cup. They shocked France with a draw to open the group stage and did the same to Brazil in the final group game to move on, all after needing help from a Go-Fund-Me page to even travel to the tournament. The foundation for this success was laid in the buildup to being the first Caribbean nation to qualify for a Women's World Cup in 2019. That process was led by Hue Menzies. Hue is a veteran coach accustomed to developing players and programs at all levels of the game. He is extremely proud not just of the results on the field, but the fact the Jamaican program's success is helping empower young women and impact the culture of his home nation. Hopefully his insight gives you some context the next time you watch the Reggae Girlz play.
