Don Brewer, drummer and co-founder of Grand Funk Railroad

Don Brewer, drummer and co-founder of Grand Funk Railroad, joins the pod for a conversation ahead of the band's visit to the Louisville Palace on Thursday, October 17th.

Hailing from Flint, Michigan, Grand Funk Railroad reached peak popularity in the 1970s with songs like ‘We’re An American Band’, ‘I’m Your Captain’, ‘The Locomotion’ and ‘Some Kind of Wonderful’ among others. They opened the Atlanta Pop Festival, sold out Shea Stadium faster than the Beatles, and the response they received opening for Led Zeppelin resulted in a bit of jealousy from the hard rocking Brits.

Brewer’s skill on the drums has led to recording and touring with artists like Frank Zappa and Bob Seger and Silver Bullet Band.  We discuss his introduction to music, early projects, and of course the formation and continued music of Grand Funk Railroad.

You can find tickets for the show on Thursday, October 17th at https://www.louisvillepalace.com/
